Will it ever be?

Slowed down and stopped,

waited for you

to cross safely

thirty-fifth street.

It was an undesignated area,

no crosswalk!

No problem,

your life comes first.

I thought

you would waive your hand

as a gesture of gratitude.

You did not, but I did!

I opened the window

and waived my hand

with a smile

to exchange my gesture

for yours,

which did not happen.

As much as I want this

as our life lesson-

will it ever be?
