O My Master, On Your Dewy Birthday

Abd Y. Lafi

Spring has come, O nightingales, sing!

This is the season of bliss and the dewy day.

And roam as you wish,

Joyful among the fields, and chant

The eternal melody filling all the world,

Awakening the soul within it — do not hesitate!

Spring has come, and the Day of Birth arrived,

And valleys blossomed, for they blossomed with Muhammad.

And all the hills breathed and turned lush green,

Swaying, clad in green veils.

Morning broke, crowned with its splendor,

How beautiful is a light surpassing the light of the stars!

And the night of ignorance was lifted when Guidance was born,

How blessed is he who is guided by prophetic guidance!

And the balconies of its palace crumbled,

And the god Al-Lat fell paralyzed.

The age of ignorance retreated in submission,

And the plain of Mecca rejoiced for what is to come.

Darkness was dispelled, so no idol is seen,

No statue they built foolishly from hard rock.

Allahu Akbar — He said it and I say it,

After the Prophet, for in him I follow.

O you who loved Muhammad, take from him

What elevates you among people, and take provision.

And if you search for all noble virtues,

Turn your face to the best of men, Muhammad.
